Training
Each term, we run training for staff supporting autistic children and young people in mainstream school settings in Tower Hamlets. POS is an Autism Education Trust (AET) training hub and delivers accredited AET courses as well as courses on a range of other topics.
The training is held at Phoenix College and is run by members of the outreach team. Some shorter courses are run virtually to broaden opportunities to attend. There is a small charge for independent settings or those out of borough wishing to attend but private nurseries are able to attend for free.
POS also offers training in settings and have a broad range of topics available, as well as the ability to plan something bespoke. These are free to access for maintained mainstream schools within the borough. Independent schools, schools out of borough and other organisations can contact the email below to request a bespoke training package.

Training held at phoenix school premises
Phoenix is a working school where any visitors are likely to come into contact with students. As such, we expect attendees to adhere to some elements of the staff code of conduct for safeguarding purposes. This includes dress code.
Staff who will come into contact with pupils at the school must ensure that their faces are fully visible at all times. Sunglasses, low peaked caps and veils, which obscure the face, including but not limited to a niqab, may not be worn at any time. Scarves and veils, which cover the hair, but leave the face fully visible, are permitted.
