WHO ARE WE?

The Phoenix Outreach Service (POS) consists of six specialist advisory teachers with experience and expertise in supporting autistic pupils.

WHAT DO WE DO?

Our vision as a service is to provide effective support for autistic pupils in mainstream schools across the borough of Tower Hamlets. We see Phoenix School as a centre of excellence for supporting autistic pupils of all ages. Through the Phoenix Outreach Service, we aim to share this excellent practice with mainstream schools, in order to support successful inclusion in their school settings.

We work with autistic pupils from the age of 3 to 19 in mainstream, maintained school settings. We provide training for key staff, and for organisations within the community. We run termly parents’ evenings and a programme of parent workshops and courses throughout the year, hosted by mainstream schools.

Associations

In November 2019 Phoenix Outreach Service was awarded Autism Accreditation Advanced Status by the National Autistic Society. The service was referred to as a “centre of excellence” with “clear evidence of the considerable positive impact it has had on the lives of autistic young people”. We were the first educational outreach service to achieve this accolade from the National Autistic Society both within the UK and internationally.

Phoenix Outreach service is an approved Autism Education Trust (AET) training hub. This means that we are able to deliver the latest research-based training modules from the DfE-approved leading provider of autism training in the UK. Alongside this, we also offer our own bespoke training courses.

We are a Cygnet provider enabling us to deliver the Barnados parenting course aimed at supporting understanding of autism for parents.
