Horticulture
Over the last seven years, Phoenix continues to offer horticulture to all pupils from early years to 6th form. The grounds and facilities allow for multiple hands on opportunities for pupils to be involved with environment, science, crafts and gardening through the seasons.
- Students learn to be comfortable with the world outside the classroom.
- Constructive sensory activities with soils, water and other materials for early years.
- Horticulture qualifications at pre entry level , entry level and level 1 to diploma with AQA and City and Guilds awarding bodies.
- Duke of Edinburgh award scheme offered to selected pupils.
- Ponds, wildlife areas, external gardens offsite, use of local parks and grounds and poultry from hatching eggs to use of eggs in food technology and maintaining mature birds allow for enjoyment, enrichment and following routines in observing and caring for living things.
- Phoenix is proud of its multiple awards from the London and Tower Hamlets in bloom competitions since 2006
