Parents & Staff: Phoenix School - Symptoms and Self-Isolation Information

Coronavirus symptoms:

  • a high temperature – A high temperature is 38C or more- .https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/fever-in-adults/  https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/fever-in-children/
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

You can get a test for someone you live with if they have these symptoms.

You do not need to get tests for people you live with who do not have these symptoms.

You do not need to self-isolate if your test is negative, as long as:

  • everyone you live with who has symptoms tests negative
  • everyone in your support bubble who has symptoms tests negative
  • you feel well – if you feel unwell, stay at home until you’re feeling better

If someone has tested positive you need to self-isolate 14 days

How to access:

To book a visit or order a home test kit please use the below link:

Apply online: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test       or call 119

There are five regional test centres in London - O2 and Lee Valley are the closest ones to Tower Hamlets.

Additional Mobile Testing Unit is available at Canary Wharf on 12th & 15th September.

This testing is for those in vehicles only (drive-through) and is by appointment only. Public access these via the NHS website or by calling the Coronavirus Testing Centre if they have no internet access.

Stay at home if you have symptoms:

If you are getting a test because you have symptoms, you and anyone you live with must self-isolate until you get your result.

You must also self-isolate if you cannot get a test because it’s more than 5 days since your symptoms started

Travel Advice:

If you have recently been to a restricted country on the quarantine list, you are required to self-isolate for 14 days. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/travel-advice-novel-coronavirus

Staff must speak to the headteacher prior to travelling. All self-isolation due to travel restriction will be processed as unpaid leave and staff will be required to complete a special leave form.

Parents should not be taking children out during term-time and if they go on holiday to restricted country they must also self-isolate and inform the school.

Parents and Staff are required to provide the School with immediate update

Staff please complete return to work with managers and provide self-isolation notes as soon as possible if you have come back from self-isolation
