Phoenix Academy and Free School

Phoenix parents support the governors plans for the Phoenix Multi-Academy Trust Conversion and a new Phoenix Free School.

The consultation on Academy conversion and the opening of a Free School has now finished. I am pleased to say that parents have been overwhelmingly positive about the plans. There have been some concerns raised around moving away from the local authority however, Tower Hamlets supports the school's plans and they have written to us to say that they will commission places in the new Phoenix Free school. They have also informed us that they are prepared to offer us the new building that we have requested.

This is not going to happen overnight and although we will convert to a Multi-Academy Trust by January or April 2018 the Phoenix Free School will take longer.

The application for Multi-Academy Trust conversion will be submitted this month and we will let you know the result as soon as we have it.

In the meantime we will be looking to acquire temporary accommodation in order to meet the needs of the children with autism referred to the school.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to working with you to create a provision that meets the needs of children with autism and their families within Tower Hamlets.

Governors will continue to keep you informed of any future developments.
